Abstract: As crypto trading spreads among Vietnamese retail investors, the surrounding news and social-media environment has grown dense, fragmented, and fast-changing, leaving individuals to decide under overwhelming conditions. This study tests a model in which crypto news overload and social-media exposure intensity raise cognitive overload, which drives decision fatigue, which lowers perceived investment decision quality, with need for cognition and investment experience as boundary conditions. Estimated via PLS-SEM on 523 Vietnamese crypto investors, results show both antecedents positively predict cognitive overload, which strongly predicts decision fatigue, which negatively predicts decision quality; both serial indirect effects are negative and significant, while the two moderation effects are not, though need for cognition shows a significant direct link to lower decision fatigue. The paper offers a validated process model for retail crypto investors and practical design implications.
